Semi-permanent make up also known as permanent makeup, SPMU or micro pigmentation is a form of cosmetic tattooing. The procedure involves tiny particles of hypoallergenic colour pigment being placed into the dermal layer of skin. Semi-permanent make up gives the look of natural, perfectly applied make up that lasts for a number of years, dependant on factors such as age, skin type, skin tone and sun exposure.

There are a range of tattooing technique available offering subtle enhancement, shape correction and definition through to glamourous block brows.

Hair Stroke	Ultra precise individual hair strokes are tattooed amongst your natural hairs to create a realistic 3D effect. Perfect for over plucked or thin brows or to improve your natural shape and brow definition.
Powder Brows	This technique gives the effect of brow makeup, it provides a fuller brow but still maintains a soft texture, using a combination of shading and hair strokes.
Block Brows	This provides a strong and dramatic brow. The entire eyebrow I filled giving the look of a heavily pencilled on brow.

Eyeliner

Eyeliner can define and enhance your eyes, creating the effect of thicker, darker and fuller lashes. With semi-permanent eyeliner you will have a smudge free, lasting liner that’s swim, shower, tear and gym proof!

Eyelash Enhancement	A subtle line created by placing tiny dots of pigment between the eyelash roots, giving the appearance of thicker lashes and better eye definition.
Eyeliner	An additional line is placed above the lash enhancement to give a thicker line for a more dramatic make up look.

Lips

Lip treatments will define and emphasise your lips, adding shape and volume. No more re-applying lipstick after a drink or meal, just perfect lasting colour.

Lip Liner	Enhances and defines the lip with a crisp outline.
Lip Contouring/Lip Blush	A lip liner to enhance and define your lip shape, with some shading to blend and create fullness.
Full Lip Colour	The whole of the lip is tinted in an airbrush style to give the effect of wearing lipstick, so all you need to do is gloss and your good to go!

Micro Blading

Microblading (also known as eyebrow embroidery) is a manual method of semi permanent makeup. The treatment has been around for centuries originating in Asia however it is relatively new to the UK.

This technique creates ultra fine realistic hair strokes. A fixed very fine blade made up of tiny needles is attached to a manual pen, the blade is then used to deposit hypoallergenic pigment into the skin by creating a very fine cut in the epidermis layer of skin, similar to a small papercut, creating a fine natural looking hair stoke.

Microblading is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance their natural eyebrow, creating more definition or shape, to cover over plucked or sparse brows.

The result of microblading is a natural feathered hair stroke.

The results can last up to 1-3 years depending of many different factors such as skin type and tone, sun exposure, and skin care regime.

Eyebrows will appear darker directly after treatment but this can fade significantly during the healing process, a touch up appointment is carried out 3-8 weeks after the initial treatment to perfect the brow.

Colour boosts are recommended annually to keep the brows pigments fresh and maintain the shape.

Pre Procedural Advice

Permanent cosmetic procedures normally require multiple treatment sessions. For best results, clients will be required to return for at least one touch up procedure between four and six weeks after the initial procedure. Be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the procedure. This will subside and become lighter as the tissue heals. This process can take up to ten days.

Advice for all permanent cosmetic procedures;

• Please wear your normal makeup to your appointment on the day of the procedure.

• Do not take aspirin, Ibuprofen or Coumadin for 2 days before and 2 days after the procedure.

• Do not discontinue any medication before consulting your doctor.

• Do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment.

• A patch test will be performed unless waived upon request.

• Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, it is advised not to make social plans for the same day. Eyebrow procedures

• Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the procedure: Electrolysis no less than five days before the procedure. Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for two weeks prior to the procedure. Eyeliner procedures

• Any eyelash tinting or eyelash perming should be carried out no sooner than 1 week before or two weeks after the procedure.

• Do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the procedure. Remember to bring your glasses.

• You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes feel comfortable. (This is normally 24 hours after the procedure). Lip Procedures

• Lip wax or bleaching treatments should not be undertaken for at least a two-week period preceding your permanent cosmetic procedure.

• If you have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex),we advise you to contact your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication to prevent such outbreaks. Alternatively, obtain herpes medication for example Zovirax from your local chemist and use one week before and one week after your procedure. This can help minimise an outbreak. Permanent cosmetic procedures do not cause cold sores, however if you carry the virus, it lays dormant in the body and can be aroused by the procedure. Initial darker appearance of the procedural area

All permanent cosmetic procedures will initially appear somewhat darker than the subsequently healed version. The following explanation will provide the reason why this is so: To apply pigment in the upper dermis location of the skin, it is necessary to implant through the top layers of the skin, the epidermis. The epidermis layers of the skin collects and then exfoliates dead skin cells as new cells are produced. As the dead skin cells in the epidermis layer of the skin are exfoliated, tiny particles of pigment that are trapped in the epidermis are also discarded with the dead skin cells. When the total process is complete only the pigment in the dermis will remain. As a result, the density of the pigment is less and the appearance of the healed procedure naturally appears lighter. Also, these new skin cells cover the procedural area veiling the procedure and causing it to be less visible than when initially implanted.

Post Procedural Advice

In order to achieve the best results from your semi-permanent makeup application proper care is essential. Please bare in mind that after the healing from the initial application some unevenness of colour may be apparent, this is the purpose of the touch up visit 4-6 weeks later. Please ensure you follow the below guidance and should you have any questions or concerns during the healing process or about your treatment do not hesitate to contact me.

For the first day;

• Do Not wash the treated area for 24 hours

• Ice packs protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling. You may experience the following for 72 hours;

• Flaking.

• Tenderness.

• Dryness and itchiness in the treated area.

• Swelling and redness. Daily Care for at least 7 days after the procedure or until the treated area has healed;

• Apply moisturising balm a minimum of 3 times daily, using a cotton bud. Wash hands before and after application and use a clean cotton bud each time to avoid infection Use a gentle facial cleanser to clean the face during the healing period.

• If the treated area gets wet, gently pat dry with a clean towel or tissue.

• Keep hair away from the treated site to prevent any infection.

• Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR SCRATCH the treated area or the colour may heal unevenly and you risk scarring and infection. Allow the wound to flake on its own. No makeup is advised for 72 hours and in the case of eye procedures using a new mascara to prevent infection is recommended.

• DO NOT expose the area to extreme heat or extreme cold until healed. This includes sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas etc. • DO NOT itch, pick, scratch or rub the area or the colour will heal unevenly or cause scarring and infection. IMPORTANT INFORMATION

REMEMBER the colour is up to 50% darker straight after the treatment. It will fade after 4 to 7 days and the true colour will not come through until up to 4 WEEKS after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing skin. This is why it is necessary to wait a minimum of 4 weeks before retouching the treated area.
